Kent Gernander retired in 2012. Prior to retirement Kent represented individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in transactions and dispute resolution. His practice areas included:

- Estate planning and probate
- Commercial transactions
- Civil litigation and arbitration
- Professional responsibility and malpractice consultation
Kent was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. He attended Harvard College and the University of Minnesota Law School, and served as a Navy JAG officer. He practiced with Streater & Murphy, PA, from 1970 to 2012.
Kent is active in professional and community organizations, and has been honored for service to the legal profession and the community.
Kent and his wife Elizabeth Burke live on a farm in rural Winona County, with their dogs Fleck and Scout, both Munsterlanders. Kent enjoys hunting, hiking, ice hockey and inline skating.
